Tony O’Reilly is the co-author of ‘Tony10’, the bestselling and award-winning book that tells the story of Tony’s gambling addiction and subsequent recovery. Tony has a unique perspective and insight into the issue of problem gambling and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.

He uses his lived experience and his professional training to advocate for more awareness, education, and support for those affected by gambling harm.

He holds a BSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy from PCI College and is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) & The Addiction Counsellors of Ireland (ACI). Tony specialises in gambling addiction counselling and delivers impactful psychoeducational workshops and talks on problem gambling and gaming.

He has supported hundreds of clients to overcome their gambling challenges and rebuild their lives, using evidence-based and client-centred approaches.

Tony has delivered his Gambling Addiction Workshop to thousands of students in schools all over Ireland over the last number of years.

He has also lectured on the recent iterations of the UCC/HSE Diploma in Substance Misuse and Addiction Studies (Level 7 NFQ) and the UCC Certificate in Continuing Professional Development in Responding to Problem Gambling (Level 8 NFQ). Most recently, Tony has joined the team delivering the ‘Micro Credential’ in Addiction Studies in Cork Prison.

Tony is also the co-host of the Problem Gambling Podcast – A podcast that explores issues surrounding problem gambling and gambling related harm.
